St When are worship services?
We have one main Sunday service at 10am. The service is a traditional one which we call a Sung Eucharist. The service is accompanied by music, choral singing, and some bell ringing. It contains Bible readings which is read out loud together with group prayers - some of which we say back and forth to one another. We pray for our church, our immediate community, the world, and of course for ourselves. There is also a short 8 to 10 minute sermon where our pastor whom we call the priest or rector reflects on the Bible readings for the day.
Finally, we gather together in a ritual meal called the Eucharist - translated from Greek meaning "giving thanks". Some folks call it Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper. During the Eucharist, we gather around a table to remember the life, work, and teachings of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We bless bread and wine and share on them together. We do this to remember that we are all blessed by God, worthy of God's grace, and are one family in the name of Jesus. This sacred ritual meal is open to everyone and regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey you are welcome to partake it with us. We believe that God loves everyone and therefore you are welcome to the Lord's table!

The parking lot is on the St. Peter's property.
What do people wear?
People dress from jeans & tee shirt to business attire. Because we're four blocks from the ocean, a sweater is good in case of a breeze.
What activities do you have for adults?
We have a philosophy discussion group led by a former philosophy professor where we talk about life and read the classics. We also study the Bible together from a critical lens but in a way which applies to our lives. This is led by our priest. We have weekly knitting groups and coffee groups. We also attend events in Morro Bay and in the San Luis Obispo County together occasionally. We have art lovers and hikers in our congregation who would love to share their passions with you.
Is St. Peter's dog friendly?
Yes, we welcome well-behaved dogs on a leash. Our priest has a large fluffy collie who attends service occasionally.
Is St. Peter's open for personal prayer?
St Peter's is open for quiet prayer and personal reflection during our office hours in the week (Tuesday to Thursday) and on Sunday before and after our service.
Why are some of the crosses in your church upside down?
Our church is named for St Peter who is Jesus' primary disciple. The upside down cross is a symbol of St Peter. Legend has it that St Peter who was persecuted by the Romans for being Christian, was eventually crucified upside down as he felt he was unworthy to be crucified the right side up like his Lord and teacher, Jesus. Thus, we use the upside down cross to represent our patron saint, St Peter, in our church.
